Patch Cafe offers paleo and paleo-inspired items in their menu. The cafe is huge and service is great.
My first beverage was my usual long black but then I feel compelled to try a matcha latte made with organic almond milk. I only wished the tea cups were bigger.
Long black ($3.8)
Matcha latte with organic almond milk ($5.5)
We had breakfast with our friends and their 3 kids. The little ones shared The showstopper (pumpkin, banana, coconut flour & almond butter waffles candied bacon ice-cream, house-made paleo Anzac crumble, seasonal berries & fruit, drizzled with maple syrup) and bacon and eggs. The showstopper made justice to its name.
The showstopper ($20)
My sister and I shared A ‘toast’ to you (spiced cauliflower ‘toast’ with apple cider poached eggs, accompanied by smashed avocado with dukkah & chopped cilantro topped with smoked salmon & caviar served with scattered tahini kale chips) and Let’s smash it! (smashed avocado with cashew feta, mint & chilli on PATCH paleo bread. Served with a poached egg, spiced tomato salsa, pomegranates, fluffy tri-coloured quinoa & a wedge of burnt lime), ordered with extra bacon. I liked the smashed avocado a lot better, but the cauliflower ‘toast’ was a nice change of pace.
A ‘toast’ to you ($19)
Let’s smash it! ($17), plus bacon ($4)
I also had a taste of I’m a fun-ghi (omelette crafted with an assortment of wild mushrooms sautéed in olive oil & thyme, accompanied with a balsamic reduction & white truffle oil. Served with your choice of goats cheese, with paleo toast), which I originally wanted to order. It was a nice omelette.
I’m a fun-ghi ($18)
We did not need more food but there were a number of clean treats tempting us, including paleo donuts. We tried one glazed with chocolate & chilli, which was tasty, not spicy, and didn’t feel naughty at all.
Our friends ordered a gluten-free muffin that was perfect for me because it had almost no sweetneer, but the kids didn’t like for the same reason.
