Last week my sis and I finally got to try one of the hot cafes in Sydney: Brewtown Newtown. We got in early to avoid the crowds.
As you can see, they roast their own coffee blends. We started our morning with long blacks so good that we had a second cup each and I bought a bag of freshly ground beans for home (they grind them upon request).

We shared two of the items in the menu that can be made gluten-free: the corned beef hash with garden peas, poached egg and parmesan crumbs (without breadcrumbs for the GF version) and the beetroot cured ocean trout, avocado smash, rye sour dough toast, dill, Persian feta & beetroot relish (without toast).
We liked both but agreed that the corned beef hash was tastier. It was also a better breakfast for a chilly morning.

I liked the flavours in the ocean trout but Gladys found it a bit too “fishy” for her taste. As I said before, it’s a dish more suited for a warm day IMO.

Service was outstanding and I’ve heard it is as good when the place is busier.
