As much as I try not to buy too many Spreets vouchers, two buckets of prawns plus a bottle of wine for $29 sounded too good to miss. Even when I had not heard of the restaurant’s name I didn’t think it long and hit the “buy” button.
Blue Fish, the restaurant providing the voucher, is located at the end of the harbourside venue strip. We were given a table in the alfresco area; luckily the weather was beautiful but unfortunately it was very dark (hard-to-read-the-menu dark).
We figured out we needed some vegetables to go with the prawns and wine. Here’s a tip: the salads on the front page are a bit expensive (granted, some of them have seafood but even the humble Greek salad is $14.50). Instead, flip the pages until you get to the sides, where you’ll find more budget-friendly options. We chose the steamed broccolini & bok choy tossed with chilli, garlic & soy dressing with sesame seed and the mixed salad.
Service was effective and efficient, our wine (a cheap but decent The Vines Semillon – Sauvignon Blanc) arrived in a champagne cooler and soon after the two buckets of prawns, each with a lemon wedge and prawn cocktail sauce.

The salads arrived immediately after and we tucked in the food. I don’t like eating with my hands but there are occasions like this when it’s impossible not to do so. The prawns were good and plentiful. The steamed broccolini & bok choy were alright, but we found the mixed salad (aka “garden salad”) too heavily tossed with cheap vinegar.

Before ordering we thought food wouldn’t be enough to satisfy our hungry bellies after a hectic day of shopping, but it was. The voucher was great value for the money.
